This is primarily accomplished through the use of corrosion coupons, which are installed in a system and removed after a period of time (typically 30, 60 or 90 days), to determine general corrosion rates.

Another method of measuring rates is with a linear polarization resistance (LPR) monitor which can be a useful tool in providing instantaneous information for specific applications. Corrosion monitoring data supplies information which establishes a baseline for tracking

performance compared with industry standards. HPE follows the guidelines set forth by AWT standards.

Training

HPE provides a system of ongoing training reviews for its customers. A detailed program manual is on-hand for reference, which identifies essential equipment, testing locations, procedures and recommendation, along with a chart for documenting results. On-site training seminars are available to train the owner’s personnel in basic water chemistry and treatment considerations. This provides our clients with a base of knowledge in water treatment which leads to a safer, more efficiently operated program.

Inspections

Scheduled shutdowns provide an excellent opportunity to evaluate the condition of in-plant equipment. Depending on the time and resources available, HPE provides a general visual inspection of equipment along with obtaining any samples for lab analysis; but can readily schedule a complete, thorough analysis using top-of-the-line video equipment for assessment and documentation. This type of analysis can be used to complement eddy-current testing for a more complete evaluation of the water side surfaces.Another method of measuring rates is with a linear polarization resistance (LPR) monitor which can be a useful tool in providing instantaneous information for specific applications. Legionella positiveLegionella Testing

Legionnaires Disease was first discovered and established as a serious health risk in 1976 at an American Legion convention in Philadelphia, at this 221 attendees became sick and 34 eventually died. The disease has actually been around much longer, and is acquired by inhaling mist or vapor carrying the Legionella bacterium into the lungs. Various sources have been attributed to harboring Legionella, including cooling water systems – which is one important reason to have an effective water treatment program in place. Heat Power Engineering provides the expertise to design a program that will minimize Legionella growth and amplification as well as the biofilm that harbors it. HPE also has the capability to perform facility audits to identify risk factors.

Full-Service-HPE-Blue

Full Service

We have services designed to help improve the effectiveness and convenience of any water treatment program. Two options are always available which virtually eliminate drum handling, storage and disposal, while improving safety and environmental stewardship. This approach provides a cost-effective step towards a more environmentally friendly “Green Building” or plant by reducing the exposure and handling of chemicals by personnel, as well as reducing the probability of accidental chemical spills.

New Construction

HPE has been active in the new construction marketplace for over 30 years, and offers consulting expertise in the planning and layout of bid and design/build projects, as well as existing building renovations. We see the process through from conception to reality as we work hand-in-hand with the architect, engineers and on-site contractors to provide a superior water treatment program, designed to meet specifications. Once a system is up and running and has been properly commissioned, we provide a seamless transition with the owner that establishes a solid working relationship built on trust and excellence.
